I took an old Toshiba Chromebook 2015 and turned it into a Linux Mint 22.1 “Xia” laptop. So far so good. This Toshiba CB has one of the best screens I’ve ever used in a laptop.

Home from our travels. 38°, RealFeel of 27°, light rain, snow possible tomorrow. Ah, spring in WNY.

Podcast is in the can and ready for Wednesday’s release. Now I can relax tonight, get a good night’s sleep, and prepare for tomorrow’s final drive home. #rivertao

Avon, IN, suburb of Indianapolis. Am I crushing the miles, or are the miles crushing me? Will be taking tomorrow off from driving to complete Wednesday’s podcast, then one final shot for home. #rivertao

Downtown Concordia MO on a Saturday night. If you find yourself here, my suggestion is that you move on. Although if you’re an architecture fan, there’s some unique items here. #rivertao

Colby KS. From here it’s nothing but putting in the miles. It’s such an incredibly dramatic experience to go from crossing Vail and Loveland Pass, driving through Glenwood Canyon, and then reaching the unbelievably barren plains of eastern Colorado. The sightseeing is over.

Colorado River looking downstream from Rifle CO

Off day today in Rifle, CO along the banks of the Colorado River. I have to get some work done on the next podcast, and then a visit to Rifle Falls. Final three stops are Colby KS, Concordia MO, and Plainfield IN.

Two fun signs on today’s segment:

    • About 20 miles east of Green River UT heading east on I-70: “Watch out for eagles in the road.”
    • Passing through Frutia, CO: “You can hold it. Buc-ee’s 291 miles.”

    Made it!

    Uh-oh…

Eastbound towards home. Rest stop at Mitchell Trail Head along the Columbia River Gorge on I-84.

Maybe it’s time for an iPhone 15 to get the satellite messaging capability? Yes? No? #rivertao

Capitol State Forest outside of Olympia WA. Mt. Rainier is in the distance.

Where would we all be without peanut butter? #rivertao

Made an attempt to view Mt. St. Helen’s. Didn’t turn out as we planned. #rivertao

The ritual that cashiers and counter servers in the PNW have about asking if you have any “plans for the day” is both charming and a little disarming to me as someone from the NE. #rivertao
