Morning walk 10:05 AM 1.6 miles. Weather: sunny, 50°. Strolled around the neighborhood and actually stayed on route this morning. It turned out to be a little shorter than I thought, so I may tack on the extra yards I did when I got a little lost. No dog barking today - they must take Monday off after a hard weekend.

Saturday evening we watched Star Trek: Section 31. It wasn’t the best. I am probably one of the biggest Michelle Yeoh fans you will ever find, but in this movie she simply lacked the presence she normally has. The fight choreography was poorly shot, doing her no favors at all, and the cast simply lacked chemistry IMO. I am not sure how much further she can take the Phillipa Georgieu character within the ST universe. We will just have to wait and see. And why is Jaime Lee Curtis popping up in cameos in every series I’ve been watching so far?

Sunday morning I got a specialty coffee from Dutch Brothers, some kind of double espresso with Irish flavor shot. It was pretty tasty, but I can’t justify spending that much on coffee more than twice a month. Then I drove down to Bam Bam BBQ and got a bagel sandwich made with brisket, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. The bagels here are all soft and rather flavorless, but the sandwich was pretty good. Unusual to have brisket that early in the morning. Then, before the NFL games, I went for a 2.2 mile hike along the San Pedro River Trail. The San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area protects the migratory habitats of birds, and when you walk the trail you can see them popping up and out of the tall grass as well as through the trees. The hike was dusty, and I didn’t stop to take any pictures. One thing about taking pictures out here - the scenery is pretty much always the same; the mountains surrounding the flat plains. When I got back I had to leave my shoes outside so as not to bring the dust in.

Watching the NFL games on Fox is proving to be a complete hassle. Sparing you the gory details, AML and I were forced to watch the game on our own separate iPad minis, as we could find no way to get the game onto the large TV screen. Fox broadcasts are only available either by having some kind of cable TV service or on a mobile device. They also seem to have a software block that prevents AirPlay casting to a larger screen. So we watched the WAS/PHI game on the iPads, and we streamed the BUF/KAN game via Paramount+. Needless to say, the Bills game was a bummer, and we were disappointed at the loss. While I do believe the Bills got robbed on the two blown calls by the officials, they played just poorly enough that those calls were not the only reason they lost. I had a feeling all season long they weren’t getting to the SuperBowl because they had a defense with too many weaknesses, but I did very much want to see them beat the Chiefs. I am not sure there is much more than one more season of this window to compete.

Today was spent getting my Garmin Zumo replaced under warranty. The process wasn’t so bad. It took about 20 minutes on the phone waiting for and then talking to the customer service rep, and then packing the broken one up and taking it to the UPS Store to be sent back to Garmin. After that trip AML and I went to a local taco joint and split three street tacos and a lemonade. Not too bad, although the flavors in the meats was not really all that different one from the other. I also have to check in on mail forwarding, as my home cameras caught the mailman delivering mail. I got my housewatcher to pick it up, but i think it will mean another phone call to the PO back home to sort this out.

We have now been out for three weeks. One week getting here, and two weeks settling in. Should be time for some vacation fun soon!
